FAQ

What forms of payment do you accept?

A.I accept debit, credit, & cash. I use PayPal, Zelle, Venmo, & Stripe! You can also add my services to your Babylist registry. If you need a payment plan, I am happy to split your total into smaller payments.

Why should I hire a birth photographer?

A.Birth is the single most important major life event and we forget the details quickly. Photos will help you relive precious moments, work through potential trauma, and allow you to share your experience with others. Head to the blog for an in depth answer!

When should I hire a birth photographer?

A.I book out several months in advance, so I suggest right around the 20 week mark!

What can I expect when hiring a birth photographer?

A.Leading up to your big day, we'll have an in-person or virtual birth meeting, an in-home visit (for home births), and your complimentary maternity session. By the time labor begins, I promise you'll feel comfortable with me! I arrive when you're in active labor and stay until just around two hours postpartum.

How many photos will be in my gallery?

A.The amount of images can range from 50-200 dependent upon the length of your labor. I am mindful of the amount of photos I'm taking in your space, and only shoot the necessary moments. The short answer is enough. Your gallery will tell the complete story. I also provide black and white copies of each color image.

Why is birth photography so expensive?

A.I go on call for you at 37 weeks which means my phone is on 24/7, I am sticking close to home, and declining on all the spiked eggnog this holiday season. I pay to secure childcare and reliable backup at a moment's notice. Your birth may be 2 hours or 32 hours, and I'll be there. Birth galleries are extensive, comparable to weddings and take several hours of editing.

What will my birth video include?

A.A complimentary birth video is typically a 5(ish) minute highlight reel of video footage that I've edited in black and white and set to your favorite music. I like to document the time of day, birth space, laboring, your baby's first cries. These are a sentimental keepsake you'll want to replay again and again.

Will I feel like I'm being watched? Like I have to perform?

A.Trust me, you are going to be in your own little world by the time I arrive. In addition, I have a very gentle presence and strong self-awareness in the birth space. My biggest priority is capturing your birth in a way that allows you to be most comfortable.

What is your turn around time?

A.I will send you sneak peeks from your birth within 24 hours and you will receive your full gallery of images within 2 weeks.

How can I prepare for birth photography?

A.Decluttering the birth space is the most important way to prepare. The rest is personal preference... pick out a robe and bra you feel amazing in, hang birth affirmations & twinkle lights (or don't).

What if I'm not comfortable sharing my birth images?

A.That is absolutely okay! I only share images on my website and social media when given permission. I do encourage you to share your images with others to aid the efforts to normalize birth. I will support your choice regardless!
